Make year round colourful glass art for your garden. In this workshop you will have the opportunity to make my popular garden art Flower Pops, which are mounted on steel rods for use in the garden. They can be left outside all year round. You should be able to make up to 5 Flower Pops in the time allowed; one large, three medium and one small Flower Pop. There are plenty of examples of the Flower Pops in my garden and in the studio for inspiration.
I will show you how to cut out the glass circles safely and then you are free to create your own designs using a rainbow variety of sheet glass, frit (crushed glass), powdered glass, glass paint and glass stringers (thin rods of glass) in a range of colourways and patterns. Suitable for confident beginners and those more experienced in glass cutting. The glass will be fired in the kiln, up to 800 degrees celcius, then gradually cooled and annealed to take any stresses out, a process that takes up to 24 hours. I will then silicone them onto the steel rods and leave to harden/cure. You will be able to pick up your flowers 2 weeks later.

A fun half day learning how to make colourful glass flowers or designs of your choice. You will be shown a sample of small pieces that are achievable within the time and it's up to you to decide which ones you would like to make. You are welcome to bring your own ideas and inspiration. I will show you how to cut glass safely and show you all the types of materials you can use - from sheet glass, frit (crushed glass) and glass stringers, to stencils, copper, gold or silver inclusions and sparkly dichroic glass. The glass will then be fired in the kiln overnight and ready for collection the following weekend. Suitable for beginners.
